FASHION WEEK: kimberly ovitz

The designer's first runway presentation was a successful one. The collection, a light minimalistic moody vision of mostly fluid and airy pieces, struck a cord of femininity with me. The line-up included looks from soft tailored jackets and pants ensembles to light-weight knit separates and dresses. A highlight was a layered sensual & innovatively done spaghetti strap tie-up white dress with an asymmetric neckline. The show - (I sensed) was well received by most of the attendees, & I gather this not just because I was eases-dropping but because as each look walked out onto the runway I could see many pleased facial expressions. With the different layers of opacity and body conscious yet wearable styles, I foresee a climb in sales for the Kimberly Ovitz team beyond expectation. My only reservation is that the aesthetic, styling & cuts somewhat evokes feeling of past collections from peer designers such as Alexander Wang, Helmut Lang & Chris Benz. I might be a little delusional in making that assumption and maybe Im even seeing things (it has happened before). Or maybe the designer was just inspired by the work of her peers.
